Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-07-06
This policy explains what information PortRobin collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it plain because privacy shouldn't need a lawyer to understand. If anything's unclear, email us at hello@portrobin.com.
Who we are
PortRobin ("we", "us") operates the AI customs & import-duty engine at portrobin.com. This policy covers our website, the public HS/HTS and tariff reference, our free tools, our public API, and the PortRobin application.
The tariff data itself is not personal data
The duty facts we publish (HS/HTS classifications, general and additional tariff rates, de-minimis treatment) describe products and trade programmes, not you. We source them from the USITC Harmonized Tariff Schedule, CBP and USTR — see our Methodology page for how.
Information we collect from you
Account information: when you sign up, we collect your name, email address and any organisation details you choose to add.
Your products: the products you classify and save, their assigned HS codes, origins and computed landed cost, and any notes you add. This is your data; we store it so the app can work for you.
Watches and alerts: the codes and lanes you choose to track for tariff changes.
Team data: if you use a Business plan, the members you invite, their roles, and their activity within your organisation's catalog.
Payment information: if you subscribe to Pro or Business, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details. We don't store full card numbers.
Usage information: basic, privacy-respecting analytics about how the site and app are used, so we can fix problems and improve the product.
Our free tools and public API
The free tools (HS finder, duty and landed-cost calculators, de-minimis checker) and public look-up endpoints work without an account. We don't require sign-up or store personal data to run a one-off classification or duty look-up; API keys, where used, are tied to your account for rate-limiting only.
How we use your information
To provide and run the service, including storing your saved products, watches and team data, and processing payments.
To contact you about your account, important changes, and support requests.
To alert you when a tariff on a code or lane you track changes (Pro and Business).
To improve the product and keep it secure. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers we need to run the product: our hosting provider, database provider, and payment processor (Stripe).
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep records for legal or accounting reasons.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your personal information at any time from within your account, or by emailing hello@portrobin.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, and we'll honour valid requests.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
